Timberline marks the edge of the habitat at which a tree species is capable of growing. It can occur in any landscape that is transitioning between conditions such as humid to dry, desert to alpine, coast to inland and so on. It is most commonly though of at high elevations where forests blanket the mountains in a tight canopy of color and texture before a definitive line marks the edge of their habitable zone.
For this latest collection I’m exploring the relationship between high altitude forests and the mountain geology that surrounds their habitat and sustains their existence.
