Desert rock formations...twist and turn, dramatically change hues depending on time of day, erode with interesting holes and arches and look like something out of a sci-fi movie. They are simply fascinating.
For this new artwork, Ox Blood Red Arches, I'm zooming in on the shapes and edges of a rock which appears to be melting into the sand. The work is built with 4 pieces of prepared collage papers adhered to a painted and sanded wood surface which I've allowed to poke through. I've drawn and cut out 3 arches with the one on the far right opening up completely.
