I saw my first Sand Dune one 90s summer road trip in Death Valley National Park . They struck me as moving sculptures, forever changing shape and "walking" down the desert basin floor. These two works are based on the shadows and ripples of the sand as the wind erodes and molds these fragile peaks. I can understand why Ansel Adams returned time and again to photograph them.

I wanted to replicate the structure and line element in the dune by hand tearing every strip of paper and layering over another textured paper to give the optical effect of moving sand and extremes of shadow and light during that "golden hour".
