Three weeks ago, we packed the Honda Element to the gills with camping, bike racing and road trip survival gear. Peeling out of the San Francisco razz dazzle for some solitude and adventure felt long overdue. The anticipation to see stars again, smell pine needles baking in the sun, get hit by a thunderstorm and bike the biggest mountains in America were calling us. While J was training to ride the Leadville100, I took the time to sketch, photo and get inspired for new artwork for next year's summer art festivals in the South West and Rockies.
In total, we drove 3,500 miles from CA to Colorado and back again. Crossing deserts, mountain passes and river gorges. Camping in lightening storms, alpine meadows and glacial valleys. Hiking, gasping for oxygen, to the top of the Continental Divide at 12,500 feet with clouds so close I felt them brushing my cheeks.
Hope your summer was a blast and fun adventures were had.
I miss being out there already.
