The Fall foliage this year was explosive. Bursts of yellows, oranges, red and brown shades splattered across the deep Emerald green mountain ranges. To walk into an Aspen forest at peak season is like being sponged in the Sun's radiant yellow glow. It makes you gasp with delight.
I'm in the process of developing a series of paintings based on my visual explorations in the Aspen forests this past month. It's an interesting artistic challenge for me to approach the subject while still staying true to my style and interest in geology. I'm toying with ideas about how to incorporate both and also simply focusing on the color transitions the leaves cycle through.
Forging on, four descriptive words come to mind:
Explosive + Showy + Radiant + Shimmering
Now...off to my lab to begin experimenting.
