Canada
The Sea to Sky corridor in British Columbia and Alberta, Canada, is shaped by tectonics, glaciation, and volcanism. Along the North American and Pacific plate boundary, the Coast Mountains feature granitic and metamorphic rocks formed by terrane collisions. Pleistocene glaciers carved fjords, valleys, and ridges, notably in Garibaldi Provincial Park. Volcanic activity created features like Mount Garibaldi, an ancient stratovolcano. Eastward, the landscape shifts to the Rockies’ foothills, with sedimentary rock layers from ancient seabeds uplifted by the Laramide orogeny. This mix creates the corridor's striking coastal and alpine landscapes.
