Fall Mountain
This series of paintings focuses on the shifting chromatic hues of the vibrant Aspen and cottonwood trees during the Fall peak season. The color explosion in high altitude Westen mountain landscapes is a spectacle to behold. The Aspens grow at a range of 8,000 -11,000 ft above sea level and are only seen out West. This native species from a distance of over 5 miles away is read visually as shimmering “carpets” of color instead of identifiable branches and trunks. It is this play of light, motion, color and textures that binds this collection of work. The Cottonwoods hug the river banks and turn a luminous pale yellow.
